I have Ubuntu 12.04 64 Bit installed. I am getting distorted images in KDE, but not Unity or Gnome 3.4. What could cause this and can it be fixed?

What sort of distortion are they, skewed, striped, pixelated, wrong colours?
In which programs is it happening?

Chrome and Firefox. I believe this is a Flash issue - at least that is what I have seen on the internet. I suspect there is a fix, just don't know how to go about it.

OK, so no problems in say Gwenview but mainly in browsers, have you tried Konqueror and Rekonq?
You still don't explain how the pictures are distorted...

In case you feel it has something to do with flash you could start by installing Flashblock.
