Hi
A) I do NOT want to "use up valuable developer time".

To that end, since I am not teaching this summer, I am available to visit, possibly on IRC, at the convenience of the developer.

B) In preparation, I would like to visit with a person who is familiar with how to "make the menu" that is docked at the and of the panel.

C) Please remember that the menu can be floated as a widget.

D) The point behind the discussion would be a "new menu widget", not my Calypso menu system.

E) The widget is targeted at a tablet interface but would absolutely sparkle on a desktop also.

F) It should also be thought of as something that would enhance access by those with disabilities.

G) The widget should be able to be scalable to cell phone size also and would leave Unity in the dust.

Okay, I think you are talking about the Kickoff Application Launcher. (http://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/Kickoff)

It is an integrated widget within KDE Plasma. This isn't something that is Kubuntu but rather upstream.

There is tablet based software within the Plasma system called Plasma Active. http://community.kde.org/Plasma/Active

If this is a new idea I would suggest getting a hold of KDE developers and seeing how far you can get with them. #kde-devel on the FreeNode IRC network would be a good place to start. As always, you can find me on #kubuntu-offtopic or #kubuntu-devel for further questions and conversation about this.
