Blank screen while trying to install

Been trying to install 12.04 for the last....8 hours?? When I put the install disc in, I get the Kubuntu screen although it looks like the recovery screen, not the install screen. I hit enter to run Kubuntu and get a blank screen. Nothing else. Ive burnt three discs now at the slowest speeds possible so I dont think thats the issue. Could it be the nvidia drivers? Any way to fix this??

Run the LiveCD in safe graphics mode, or use the Alternate LiveCD (non-GUI) to install.

Ive installed with the alternate install, but havent figured out how to resolve the graphics issues yet. Why on earth would they release an LTS iso file with a known buggy nvidia driver??
