Disabling Kparts for some MIME types

    Hi all,

I've just discovered Kparts as I was looking to view PDFs within Firefox. Very convenient indeed, however it has this huge list of supported MIME types. I want to deactivate some of them, like compressed files, but the application sub-list (under Supported Mime Types) is so large that it takes more than one screen and it's impossible to scroll to, say, application/zip.

Is there a workaround or a config file where I can edit this manually?

    Thanks!

not sure I understand your problem (how do you launch kparts?), but from the system settings panels there is "File Association" button and from there you can manage MIME types etc... On top of the "File Associations" window there is a box where you can filter your results to display say, only application/zip application/pdf or whatever...hope this helps

Yes, it does. I have just managed to do it via Firefox's preferences, in the Applications tab, but from the looks of it this works as well.

I don't launch Kparts, it's just a Firefox plugin which opens certain file types within the browser (like embedding Okular in Firefox for PDFs) directly, rather than prompt with the Save dialog box. By default, it intercepts a lot of types, including zip files. The menu I was referring to is the Supported Mime Types in the screenshot below.

Thanks, I'll be closing this topic.
