why i cannot update kernel?

hai, please help i try to update my kernel because they not update automaticly, i try 3.0.0-13 and 3.0.0-14 but always fail to boot it said not find nvidia config or not found screen, it strange because i can boot in my old kernel 3.0.0-12-generic (my grafic card is nvidia gtx 460se) ???

You could try to first remove the proprietary nVidia drivers and then upgrade the kernel.
Now you should be able to boot with the new kernel and Vesa driver and you can re-install the nVidia driver.

i had done to remove nvidia driver, but when i upgrade kernel it said dkms.conf error and i cannot boot in new kernel because no screen found, i try everything but i stuck in 3.0.0-12 kernel
