Panels that only show on one desktop

Is this possible? Basically, I have a netbook that folds down into a psuedo-tablet with a touch screen, so being able to have two desktops with two different plasma profiles would be enourmously helpful.

Or, rightclick pager->pager settings->virtual desktops->activate different widgets for each desktop.

That would work for widgets, but not the entire panel itself. I actually would like to have a horizontally-oriented panel on desktop one, and a vertically-oriented one on desktop two, neither of which would show during the switched desktop modes.

No, the panels cannot be removed by Activity :( Which imo this feature should have been left in. You definitely cannot do this with virtual desktops, .either
