Cannot see USB device connected to the system. - Solved

Hello.
on my 11.04 ver.
i cannot see a USB device or CD disk connected to the system
on the desktop view.
i can see it if i open the main desktop folder.
how can i define the system to see any USB device or CD disk.

These days the desktop is no longer 'just' a display of a directories content but a place to display widgets.

There should be a widget in the system tray of the task bar that notifies you via a pop-up when a CD/DVD is present or when a USB drive is connected, it's using the tree-pronged USB symbol and I think in English it's called the New Device Notifier.
When not present unlock the widgets, select Add Widget and drag it from the line up to where you want it.
This widget will also offer options for opening the new device and you can use it to unmount.

If you still want to go back to a classical Desktop:
Right click on the desktop and select the bottom option to configure the desktop.
Now click the top button to unlock the widgets and next click Desktop and select directory (or folder) display.

Accept the change with the bottom button and you're back to what Windows has taught us ;)

You do want to right click the Desktop one more time and lock the widgets.

The Device Notifier plasma widget should show the same pluggable devices as the Dolphin file manager places panel.

or
Press F1 when an application is active.
