I have recently upgraded to 11.04 (actually, had to do an install from scratch). In earlier versions of Kubuntu, there was an option for disabling the touch pad. Now, I cannot find this anywhere. I have a Dell Latitude E6500 with the button embedded in the keyboard and I don't use the touch pad. I keep brushing it with my thumb and moving the cursor to some place where I don't want to be typing.

Anyone know how to shut this thing off in 11.04?

TIA

There's no "Off" in system settings on your machine?

Well, I'm looking under System Settings -> Input Devices ->Touchpad. I have four tabs: Hardware, Cursor motion, Scrolling, Tapping. There is no "off" option in any of those places. Am I looking in the wrong place?

You'll find it in KMenu --> Applications --> Utilities --> Touchpad Management

There's an option in there to disable the touchpad if a mouse is detected (thanks, PattiMichelle).

I have no idea why it's not in systemsettings.

good luck!

That did it! I don't know why it is not in system settings either. This a fresh install, not an upgrade so I don't get it. Nonetheless, mission accomplished.

Thanks ;)
