View Full Version : Truecrypt won't dismount

I guess there's a problem with TrueCrypt and the new Kernel... I had to mess around to get TrueCrypt to work anyway, but now it simply won't dismount a thumb drive. I turned off the indexer, but it still won't dismount a thumb drive - I have to reboot and I still get corrupted or missing files. (Strigi was never on, and I disabled Nepomunk.) I always make sure copy operations are finished (according to KDE), and that the thumb drive LED has stopped flashing, and to navigate away from the thumb drive to a local hard drive in Dolphin, then close Dolphin, before trying to dismount. I always get the error that TrueCrypt cannot dismount because *something* is using the drive.

Anyone find a fix yet? (No problems in windoz)

<new kernel blues> :-[ :'(

The error I get (the Thumb drive LED has stopped flashing):
device mapper: Remove ioctl failed: Device or resource busy
Command failed

Thanks ix!!!! It took me a while, but I found this:

http://serverfault.com/questions/228966/truecrypt-fails-to-unmount

It *seems* to work OK so far, and I'm not sure how much of a performance hit TrueCrypt takes when not using the kernel encryption services.

EDIT: It turns out this seems to fix all three problems with TrueCrypt that I've encountered with the new kernel, even in other distros...
