Seems like wherever I look, people say that I need Ndiswrapper and that the acx drivers don't work.* I'll admit that Ndiswrapper has worked for me on other distros (Knoppix and Xandros to be specific).* On Kubutnu though, I've had no luck with Ndiswrapper (version on the repositories didn't work, tried to follow directions to build using the latest source but couldn't get that to work).* HOWEVER, I have found a little bit of precious info that got my card running with the acx driver.

I was looking up directions on the acx site (http://acx100.sourceforge.net/) to see about removing the ones native in Kubuntu and put in my own.* At the bottom of the page about firmware, I fould this:

"In Ubuntu dapper flight 4 there is an error, and have by default the 2.3.1.31 firmware, this version is not working at all, you must copy the firmware of the /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34 to the /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default and restart, after this, everything is working ok."

So that got me thinking.* I'm trying out Flight 7, has this been fixed?* So I opened up the firmware folder.* Among the folders there was one for 1.2.1.31 and another for 1.2.1.34 firmware.* I checked the readme file in the firmware folder and it told which are set as defaults.* For the one I wanted, it said the default was the older 1.2.1.31.* I then went into the default folder and sure enough, the link in there pointed the the older firmware.

I removed the link, made a new link pointing to the newer firmware, and rebooted the machine.* Voila, my Netgear WG311v2 adapter is working perfectly.

Thought I would post this to let others know there might be an easier way to get the card working than fooling around with Ndiswrapper.

Oh, forgot to note one thing. For the WG311v2, the specific firmware file you need to set the link for (or copy into the default folder) is "tiacx111c16".
