what is of more than passing interest to me is that the Ubu forums are "more helpful" and, apparently, "more friendly".
I can remember a whole "class" of people being run out on a rail and tarred and feathered at Ubu forums and still that same "class" of people had better not "stray" from their little backwater so as not to offend the elevated and rarefied tastes of certain people.
And, to reiterate the question at the Ubu forums.....just WHAT questions? sign off on the "this is the way we do things" policy?
The under/over ...............hmmmm THAT'S ME..........OVER AGE!!! ;D policy?

hands clapping smiley here....
as a comment.........
I've been here ....what...? a couple of months?
The questions were SO innocuous that I didn't even remember them!
Of course, there are those who say that the old woodsmoker can't remember to get up in the morning but we will let that pass..... ;D
good job...being proactive!

I hate to sound like a jaded a-hole, but .....
If those those questions are too tough for him, does anyone really want to try to fix his Linux system for him? :-X

;D ;D
I was being 'politicaly correct' in my reply on UF, but I agree. If our questions are so difficult, and the person can't figure out how to use a search engine to narrow down the possiblities, well, they are already several bottles short of a six-pack. :P ;D ;D

I had thought those were rather intelligent questions. Those of us who have had kids, or once was one, know what dumb questions look like. For those who don't fit into either of those categories, here is an example:
Q. What is the capital of Canada?
A. "C"
Q. When is a door not a door?
A. When it's a jar.
I got lots. ;D
Want more? . . .Wait! . . .Come back . . . . !

I don't know about getting answers to math questions via Google - that may indeed be a stumbling block. :( However the rest of the questions are perhaps a bit of a test. It tests someone's ability to use a search engine. If they can't pass that one then snowhog ends up doing all the work for them. ;D

Actually, Google will do math calculations for you. Try it. In a Google search URL type:
(2+3)*3=
and press Enter.

Maybe I should just change all of the questions to math questions. That way there are no "difficult" questions.

The real problem, is that there are 'difficult' people! ;D

You are probably right. However, I just went to sign up at the Debian Forums and one of the questions there is this math question:
012345
what is the middle number?
Math is not my weak point, but there are obviously different kinds of math and that was one with which I was unfamiliar. Anyway it had me stumped and I scratched my head for a while before I made a random choice which it accepted.
My favourite trick question is: "what weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?"
The answer, of course, is a pound of feathers is heavier because there are 16 ounces to an avoirdupois pound and only 12 ounces in troy which is what we use for gold. ;D

How about asking them to type the nice silvery word that starts with k at the top of the page only leave off the last two letters?
Otherwise I think this guy is sitting on his throne with the fan running full blast and reading this on a netbook and giggling a lot.

you have that backwards, you can do them in krunner like this
= (2+3)*3
although u do need to enable the calc plugin.
