So I have Kubuntu running, upgraded from 10.04, where I had also installed Gnome, and the Cairo-Dock. Now, when I switch to Gnome, I want the Cairo-Dock default, and start it automatically. Not so in KDE. But one way or another, it always comes up in KDE as well, and I need to kill it.
How can I make it start automatically in Gnome, and never in KDE?

There are two possibilities and neither may work but I think they may be worth a try. In system settings / Auto Start & Shut Down, click on disable where you see the Cairo-dock entry. If that does not work, you may want to try exluding it at startup this is also found in system setting / Auto Start Shut Down / Session manager. New the bottom of session manager you will see a line/space to add programs to exclude at startup.
Good luck, Abear
