The title says it all. Instead of having to download covers off the internet and then spend a considerable amount of time fixing all the ones that Amarok got wrong or used a crap image, I want Amarok to use the quality, hand-selected album artwork that I've embedded in my MP3 collection. I know that Amarok doesn't support this as default, so I was wondering if there was a script or plug-in or something that gave it this functionality.

Re: Anyway to get Amarok to read album artwork embedded in MP3 tags?
In Amaroc click "tools" / "cover manager" There is a great program called Albumart Downloader that will find cover art
and tag your mp3's, You can download it from their site in a debian package and install it with gdebi.

My MP3 collection is already tagged with album art. I want to know if there's a way to get Amarok to read it.

That's enough.
The OP asked if it were possible for Amarok to read the embedded album cover art already in the .mp3 files. He doesn't want to have Amarok connect to the Net and download what it thinks it should use.

I was trying to help. The op doesn't have to be an ass about it either. Furthermore, using the cover manager doesn't mean you have to download anything. It finds the cover already in the file (created in windows more than likely) and sets it to be read by amaroc. But don't waste your time with it.Ya hear that? That's the blues callin' baby.

Amarok currently does not read covers from metadata.
See Re: cover manager doesn't work for me where I asked the question and was told:
Fetching covers from metadata is simply not yet implemented.Windows no longer obstruct my view.

I didn't say that Amarok doesn't display Album Art - it just doesn't get it from the embedded metadata from the source .mp3 file - it pulls it from a service on the Net.Windows no longer obstruct my view.

Re: Anyway to get Amarok to read album artwork embedded in MP3 tags?
I'm sorry but you're wrong. Amaroc is displaying the artwork that i personally put in my album folder. I can uninstall amaroc and unplug my internet cable then install it and load my music folder and every one of the thousand or so songs will show the artwork. Is that or is it not what the man asked to do?

Re: Anyway to get Amarok to read album artwork embedded in MP3 tags?
BubbaBlues, you obviously don't understand what I'm asking (or you're trolling), and your responses are not helpful. I know how to make Amarok display cover art through the cover manager. I even know how to attach a custom image to tracks and albums. What I want is something else entirely. One of the features of the ID3 tag format is that you can embed cover art in the MP3 file itself. I would like Amarok to automatically read and display those embedded images instead of having to fetch them from the internet along with all the hassle that brings with it.
If you still don't understand what I'm asking then please leave the thread. Thanks.

Re: Anyway to get Amarok to read album artwork embedded in MP3 tags?
They've been saying that for a few years now, apparently. I was hoping that by now somebody might have stepped up to the plate to provide their own solution. Mozilla Songbird is able to display embedded cover art, but it's currently slow and clunky and doesn't integrate well with KDE. Apparently none of the other biggies like RhythmBox or Banshee are able to read embedded cover art either. It's such an obvious feature, so it's strange to leave it out.Originally posted by SnowhogAmarok currently does not read covers from metadata.

Yes, and it's a sad commentary on the skills of the developers (sorry, but it has to be true) that they haven't figured out how to do it. I just can't believe that it's that complicated.Windows no longer obstruct my view.

According to the thread you linked to above, they only need one more small piece of code to make it work. Apparently it's just not a priority to them.Originally posted by SnowhogYes, and it's a sad commentary on the skills of the developers (sorry, but it has to be true) that they haven't figured out how to do it. I'm sorry that I allowed myself to get a little defensive over your comments even when attempts were made by a moderator
to make my comments insignificant. However I DO know exactly what you want and I know how to make it happen. It's a two step process. The pic below shows the cover art that came from an ID3 tag that I tagged with easytag. But I'll be happy to leave the thread as you wish. I'm sure you geniuses will figure it out.
