KDE panel has diasappeared

Hi!

My KDE panel has disappeared. Even after restarting the X server it has not recovered. Any idea what I could try to get it back?

Could be a corrupted rc file, try removing your user kickerrc (actually it's better to change the name or move it to a different location for testing) to see it will work.

You should get a 'vanilla' panel, which you can then customize the way you like it.

Thanks a lot for your help, kubicle!

What did the job for me was to call kcontrol, fiddle around with the panel settings a bit (pretty much randomly), and hit 'apply'. The panel reappeared and stayed.

Very strange behavior, anyway. I still have no clue why it disappeared in the first place...
