can you at least improve on the bootsplash? it doesn't look so good. but the major turn-off is when you restart/shutdown, coz that's when all those ugly text messages come out. 7.04 was better @ this. you only get a black screen for a few moments befrore the splash comes out. no seemingly unintelligible text to scare linux noobs into thinking that something went wrong.

i've been using linux since 2000 and honestly, i really just love it. it's my Primary OS. but this (bootsplash) has not improved @ all, or it did but not that much. if linux is gonna outdo or challenge the other OSs, it could @ least be more presentable. first impressions are very important to those who are new to linux. make it a good one for them.

;D

There are a few ways to customize your boot process. have a look in adept/synaptic under "grub" there are a few goodies.

My favorite is kgrubeditor (for kde4):

and here:

Or QGRUBEditor (for kde3):

Above and beyond all that I tend to agree with you but hey, we don't have to reboot every 2 minutes either like some people ;D ;D ;) ;)
