In KDE4:
If I am using the dragon player, the sound comes out of the sound card. How can I make the sound come out of my USB headset?
Also, if I am using Firefox and go to youtube, how can I make the sound come out of my USB headset rather than the sound card?
What is the reason that so few sound applications allow one to choose the sound output device like one can with skype and kplayer?
