This is really a question not a request:

I was looking at the changes for hardy alpha 4 (https://wiki.kubuntu.org/HardyHeron/Alpha4/Kubuntu) and noticed that there is a new app called desktop effects designed to make compiz install & setup easy. Whats the devs position on the use of compiz going forward to KDE4 given that there is already KWin which provides most of the same features? Will compiz continue to be used? Will it be replaced by KWin?

It makes sense to continue to support Compiz until such point that all long-term-support versions of K/Ubuntu that use KDE3 are obsolete.

The LTS version of Hardy will still be using KDE3.

Replaced by KWin? No, compiz has had a lot more time to simmer and get worked on and be in the news and in front of peoples face.

KWin, last I looked, was more of a basic window effects setup than a whole fullup compiz.
