Trash Icon on Desktop stays on full

So I put a trash link on my desktop but the icon stays stuck on full instead of changing to empty when it is empty. Any ideas?

try this (http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3083279.msg70225#msg70225). You need to edit the shortcut, which is essentially a text file, and specify both a 'full' icon and an 'empty' one.
