Hello everyone,

This problem's been driving me crazy for a while. I have a data show that I connect to my HP pavillion dv5000 laptop with nvidia card.

If I have the proprietary nvidia drivers installed I get no signal to the data show at all, nothing I've done was able to solve this, I changed resolutions from 640x480 till 1280x800 with no luck. I tried depths from 8 up to 24 with no luck either. Pressing fn-f4 won't change a thing. Just a blue screen on the wall!

If I revert to the default nv driver I get rubbish on the wall, which means some signal is received from the computer, but it's just rubbish. Just some ascii characters. I tried to also change resolutions from 640x480 till 1280x800 with no luck, same thing with depth. I just keep getting rubbish to display on the data show. If I press fn-f4 the image on the wall flickers but with no change at all.

Of course while the computer is booting before it enters into the X session everything shows up properly on the data show. The data show loses signal when entering X if I have the proprietary nvidia driver and shows rubbish when I have the default nv driver.

ANY HELP will be greatly appreciated because I just can't use my kubuntu gutsy with any meetings like this!!!

Boot into recovery mode and execute "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg". See if that helps.
