gThumb to Handle GIFs?

Hello,
I like to use gThumb for basic photo/graphic handling (I only use GIMP when I need to do more complex things). I like the way gThumb handles simple stuff like resizing and cropping.

However, gThumb can't handle GIF files. Can someone tell me how I can extend gThumb to be able to handle GIFs?
