Hi,
I have yet another issue to deal with after upgrading to Gusty Gibbon:

When I started out with Kubuntu Edgy I wasn't able to change the screen brightness of the onboard monitor of my laptop. When I upgraded to Feisty I was able to adjust it easily even in either an X session or a plain old console by using the laptop's on-board brightness keys (Fn+F4 or Fn+F5). Now, I've upgraded to Gusty and it's gone back to how it was in Edgy; I can't change it at all. (Oddly, however, I can change the brightness when I log in with Gnome rather than KDE.)

Where would I start to find out how changing brightness works on my monitor?

Take a look in Adept Manager for hotkey-setup:

This package will attempt to auto-detect your laptop hardware and then configure its hotkeys to produce useful keycodes. These can then be used by userspace applications.

What make/model laptop do you have?

FN Up and Down work for me to adjust brightness on my Dell Precision M20. Same for FN PgUP and PgDn to adjust volume.
