Disk & File Systems do not agree with fstab on Kubuntu Gutsy as can be seen in the attached figure. A cdrw got mixed with the floppy.
Is that a known bug?
Thanks,
Yair

Yes, "Disks & Filesystems" is known to be less than 100% reliable, in multiple ways. Some parts of it work, sometimes, but you can't entirely trust it. :P
Better to use your bash commands for evaluating your drives, partitions, and filesystems.

Thanks.
If Disk & File Systems is in fact supposed to show the fstab's content then it is strange that such a bug still exists.
hmmm... where did I put the XP's CD? :-\

I'm more inclined to agree with you than to provide the rationale -- I don't know why such a defective module is permitted to fall into the hands of the unsuspecting public. ::)
Bear in mind that Linux is derived directly from Unix, and as such, is by design a command-driven OS. The X server and GUI apps like "Disks & Filesystems" were laid on top of the "real" OS in recent times. Not that it is an excuse for poor performance of the GUI app, but the real disks and filesystems are undoubtedly fine, they just don't LOOK fine when viewed that way .... :P
You can open a console and look at them with
fdisk -l
lshw
df -h
blkid
lsusb
hwinfo and the like.

A month has passed, and nothing has changed on the bug page. I'm beginning to think that this bug will just be ignored.
