Hi

I'm doing another clean install of Gutsy after hosing my first one with Compiz.

I boot off CD and do the config side ok (including formatting) and then it comes to writing the files from CD to the hard drive - it gets so far and then the system appears to hang at the "Installing System" prompt. The screen stops refreshing and after a while the CD spins down and there is no further progress in the installation.

Has anyone experienced this or know why this is? Is a repeat installation likely to work ok?

Thanks ???

Well, I had a good run round the OS last night and it appears to have installed just fine. Weird! ???

are you installing it on a laptop?

i'm trying to install the new gutsy on my dell vostro 1500 and it did the same thing..

The first few times i tried the install (yes i did it a few times) it stalled at 82% and i found that that was becaues i was connected to the internet. However, after disconnecting, it still dissapears at 94% when it's installing the grub.

Maybe you should try disconnecting from the internet if you are connected.

EDIT: OR, try increasing the size of the Root partition. I had mine at 2 gigs, and i couldn't install gusty, but i up'd it to about 8 gigs and voila, i'm writing this on linux :)
