Hi,
I'm getting the same problem as well.I click on the version upgrade button and followed the wizard. Then it gets stuck with the dialog box"Canonical Ltd. no longer provides support for the following software packages. You can still get support from the community. If you have not enabled community maintained software(universe),these packages will be suggested for removal at the end of the upgrade.

The package in question is: libportaudio0

I hope someone will be able to help us on this one.

Regards,

I'm getting this too. ???

I upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy via the command line because Adept kept failing or hanging. And now with every package update, there is a note saying I don't have Gutsy installed. After downloading the installer, it then tells me Gutsy is installed and up to date.

lsb_release -a
will give you the installed version.

I believe they have fixed the "little" adept bug and it is ready for update ;D

No dice, using:

lsb_release -a

This is what I'm getting:

No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 7.10
Release: 7.10
Codename: gutsy

And the version upgrade is still available in Adept.

That is good. adept is just being its quirky self as usual you can effectively ignore that. And it has been fixed ASFAIK.

I use synaptic but that is another story.

Okay try this:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

and see what apt tells you.
Don't worry this will not break anything except for maybe getting adept to behave again :)

I installed kubuntu 7.10 as a clean install today from the alternate CD and got this message (first time I have ever installed ubuntu or kubuntu). Thought it had to be a bug but I just clicked through it and it eventually decided it was up to date and did nothing untoward.

Fintan: I was pretty sure I tried:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

and I had, because nothing was in need up updating or upgrading.

Well you are all set then :) Adept will cool down with time. In fact on the test gutsy final I installed last night I got no new messages for updating after booting into it just now.

Alrighty. I wasn't too worried about it as my Gusty install is up and running.

There was a similar bug in Feisty, only there was only a message saying there's a new version but no button to upgrade.

Now there's even a button that starts the installer. Seems like the bug is growing. :)
