I had some office docs on a 256 MB USB stick, crammed it into my front USB port, konqueror fires up, and I browse to the files. When I click on one of those .doc files, OO2 starts up then dies off in my systray like a 400 lb. man clutching his chest on a treadmill.
I can open up OO2 first instead, then browse to the USB path (/media/usbdisk?) and open 'em up that way just fine. But that would be like me applying 2 of those electric heart shakers to the man. And I'm no doctor, just a lazy linux user. No realy biggy, but thought I'd report my experience.

Have you tried updating OOo2?
Here's the repo:
## OpenOffice.org 2.0
deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~doko/OOo2 ./

I think KOffice has better support for .doc files than OpenOffice.

No, sir.* I haven't taken the plunge yet.* I ran across one thread about the latest OO2 and buggines- err, feature richness!, and decided to slap it on my 2006 new year's resolution list instead.
I mean, my files on the USB stick open up in OO just fine, but just not from konqueror when I click on 'em.* I have to open them from the OO2 dialog "open" thingy.
When I get the time for an ~80MB (or whatever it is) download, I'll give 'er a shot. If someone already has OO2 installed and can test that for me, I'd light a candle for you here at the house and sacrifice one small chicken in your honor.

Nope, still not fixed. You might want to file a bug.

Will do.* And thanks for checking.
So, what's it gonna be? I have three different candle scents here.* Spiced Cranberry, Pears & Berries, or Vanilla Cookie?* Oh, and I plan on eating the chicken afterwards too, so gimme a wish now and I'll throw in some extra voodoo for ya as I crack the wishbone.
