Originally my problem was that Kubuntu (Breezy) wouldn't get past "starting hotplug subsystem" module when loading. so i disabled my soundcard in BIOS and it worked. but my sound card wouldn't get detected.
I tried downloading the Realtek driver off their site (realtek-linux-audiopack-3.4-9.tar.bz2), but the auto install didn't work. And the insructions for the manual install are way too hard for me to do (new to this). How can i get kubuntu to recognize my sound card? or how can manually set up this driver? I've seen a lot of posts about this problem on a myriad of sites, but no distinct instructions to solve it, please bear in mind i'm a "newbie". Please help, i love kubuntu, but if i can't get this to work, i'm going to have to go back to windows.
